In the preparatory stages finally leading to production start-up there are a number of key tasks to be conducted by designers, some of them in close cooperation with engineers. Development of basic samples for colours, materials, and surfaces is the center of attention. At this stage, process management for material development between the manufacturer and suppliers has highest priority. The complex grain pre-development for foils, slush, and hard plastics needs greatest care. Colour matching is another critical activity that requires the expertise of a highly experienced designer. At the end of this evaluation of samples and colour references, stands the sign-off for the finished parts. I provide full design experience in this area. My skills in this process ensure that a milestone doesn’t turn into a stumbling block.
